This movie beautifully depicts a coming of age story of a girl who suffers from inferiority complex and self-doubt. Starring Hailee Steinfeld as Nadine and supported by Haley Lu Richardson as Krista her best friend, Blake Jenner as her brother Darian and Woody Harrelson, a weirdly helpful teacher, this movie is as realistic showcase of a life of a teenager who has had it hard to make friends since she was a kindergarten student and how she reacts to her best friend dating her brother whom she has hated and envied all her life. Darian, since his childhood has remain a popular boy, adored by their mother who has particularly portrayed Nadine as a child, difficult to deal with.
Krista choosing Darian over Nadine evokes Nadine to react as a teenager would and the consequences that follow, help her to finally realize some life lessons and discover a new self.
2. The Half Of It

This one should be at the top of your list to watch next if you haven't already. It was a recommended one, and I realized what one can miss on without following some recommendations. My experience of this movie was so special; under the twilight sky with beautiful clouds and happy thoughts that followed after the end. This is one of the best movies and there's not much emphasis I can put into making you watch it.
Not an infamous cast but a great story, crafted and recited exquisitely. It'll have you engrossed throughout with a unique narrative and with appreciation towards smaller things in life.
A Chinese girl, teased and unappreciated by the students who is the smartest of all and known to help in homework completions when paid for, considers to help a boy write a love letter when she needs the money. The events that follow teach us the meaning of true love and to let the spark of hope ignited within.
3. Lady Bird

Starring the extremely talented, two time Academy Award winning actress, Saoirse Ronan, Lady Bird is a must watch coming-of-age drama that will help you better understand the emotional cyclone an adolescent goes through. Written and directed by Greta Gerwig and supported by actors, Timothee Chalamet and Lauri Metcalf, the movie showcases the rebellion of the protagonist towards her persisting lifestyle. Longs to leave the place she belongs from, Sacramento, prefers to be called by her self-given name, yearns for sophistication and experiences of a popular teenager.
Her bond with her mother is the highlight of the movie. Also her self-realization marks the moral the story is conveying to the viewers
P.S. the movie is unfortunately unavailable in India on streaming platforms. Try other means to check this movie out.
4. The Perks Of Being A Wallflower

This movie is representation of the same name novel written by Stephen Chbosky. "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" is about a fifteen year old boy, Charlie, who as the movie title suggests is secluded from the crowds and an audience to the world around him and not a participant. The movie includes a great cast with excellent input of their craft; Logan Lerman is Charlie, Emma Watson is Sam, Ezra Miller is Patrick, Mae Whitman is Mary, Nina Dobrev is Candace and Paul Rudd is the teacher, Mr. Anderson.
Charlie shows us a world through his perception, the problems that he faces and his experience with eventually getting along with two seniors including Sam who he later dates, how he copes with depression of the suicide of his best friend and death of an aunt which traumatized him for a pert of his life and all the time dealing with adolescence.
It is crafted and put beautifully and would definitely move you with it's story.
5. Booksmart

This movie, debut directed by the infamous actress Olivia Wilde captures the story of two best girl pals played by Kaitlyn Dever (Amy) and Beanie Feldstein (Molly), who excel in academics but on the last day of school are keenly determined on having other experiences of school life. They decide to hit the different parties organized on the same day showing division into groups in a school and the experience and revelations they get from each other is the core of the story.
The slapstick humor in the movie will have you invested throughout with a meaningful lesson to learn as well.
