The Magical Musicals

The Musical genre basically includes the movies which incorporate characters who sing while the story continues to follow some major genre. It could be a musical-romance, musical-drama, musical-comedy, anything.

Even though many viewers find this genre less interesting and engaging than others, it just takes adapting to the musical numbers and following through the scenes as many of these movies are highly praised by the critics.

Now when I started to jot down a list of my favorite five musical movies, it was a tough task to follow. I had to ask around and spend 2 days trying to decide whether I should or not take favorite ten instead.

Nevertheless, I've manage to come up with five movies which may not be 'the' five but i highly recommend you all to go check them out.

So, here they are;

1. Mamma Mia ! & Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again

This is one of the most beautiful movies out there with a great cast. It's one of those movies, that could instantly light up your day and make things fall into their right place. Mamma Mia! stars the living legend Meryl Streep as Donna Sheridan, a single mother of a beautiful girl, Sophie, played by Amanda Seyfried, who is ready to tie the knot. Sophie finds her mother's old diary which hints that out of the three, Sam Carmichael, Harry Bright and Bill Anderson, one of them is her possible father. When she invites them all, follows some heart warming scenes with Donna and Sophie strengthening their mother daughter bond and Sophie discovering her true self and purpose of life. And at the end, we witness a small beautiful wedding with surprising turn of events.

You'll definitely be stuck with humming the up beat numbers in the movie and completely satisfied with your time investment.

2. La La Land

La La Land is a musical-romance movie which has received much appreciation by the audience throughout the globe. The movie is about Mia (Stone),a struggling actress and Sebastian (Gosling), a struggling jazz musician. The two dared to dream and in a city where dreams are often crushed and hope shattered. They are drawn to each other and soon fall in love but when their dreams are at stake, what turn their story takes is what the movie is all about. The movie is full of some beautiful music and teaches how to balance between dreams and reality.

3. Pitch Perfect 1, 2 & 3

The movie is about the Bardon Bellas, a-Capella group and their story to bring an all girls group to win the championship following a mishap and a disarray in traditional Bellas. The movie has a good cast with Anna Kendrick leading the bunch. The movie will have you hooked throughout with some golden songs like Bruno Mars' Just the way you are and Miley Cyrus' Party in the USA.

4. Into The Woods

This 2014 released musical-fantasy includes four popular fairy tales linked with one story of a baker (James Cordan) and his wife (Emily Blunt) who wish to have a child and to do so they must reverse a curse by the wicked witch (Meryl Streep) by bringing her a cape as red as blood, a cow as white as milk, hair as yellow as corn and a slipper as pure as gold. And thus the story leads the baker and his wife to the stories of, Jack and the Bean Stalk, Cinderella, Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood. Where Anna Kendrick is Cinderella, Chris Pine her Prince Charming and Johnny Depp plays the big bad Wolf. The immaculate recitation of your favorite childhood fairy tales would leave you wonder-struck for sure, by putting together of great acting skills and movie production.

5. High School Musical 1,2 & 3

Well this was my first musical and I'm pretty sure it's same for most of the movie lovers out there. The teen in me still at times makes me watch the whole series in a go, because this musical-drama-comedy may sound cheesy, because it obviously is, it still manages to make you feel every emotion the movie makers want you to. We all love the singing couple, characters; Troy and Gabriella, played by, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens and hate Sharpay but still love Ashley Tisdale all the way. While the other characters actively supporting them, to complete the movie story. The movies have some stuck-to-mind kind of songs and deserves at least one watch.
